From tired to terrific
This reno was for a sauna that was about 40 years old, so it was ready for an upgrade. It was about 9' x 5.5' and in a basement. We improved the air circulation in the structures, tiled the floor, rebuilt the brick wall, gave it a new look and some modern lighting.

The old interior was paneled in pine. You can see that the sap is dripping from the wood. This can burn your skin.
Saunas built in the past didn't have air circulation in the structures, causing mold and rot.
Styrofoam was used in the old build and you can see how it has melted here. Styrofoam is not a good insulation material in a sauna. It cannot withstand the heat and can let off toxic gasses as it melts.
